Missouri River Levee Breach

Missouri River Levee Breach- In Hamburg, lowa local emergency management officials have ordered a mandatory evacuation of the town of Hamburg, Iowa. This was done because two Missouri River levees breach broke Monday in northwest Missouri along the swollen Missouri River near the Iowa-Missouri border. The rising Missouri River is sending torrents of floodwater over rural farmland toward the Iowa town of Hamburg and the Missouri state park and resort of Big Lake. The levee failures both happened Monday morning.
Iowa National Guard troops have dumped thousand-pound sandbags from a helicopter to delay a full breach of a Missouri River levee long enough to build a secondary wall to protect a town. But the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers warned that the partial break of the levee near the Iowa and Missouri border could not be repaired.
