Rihanna man down

RIHANNA's hard-hitting new promo for MAN DOWN has come under attack from activists at a TV parents group for graphically depicting the murder of a rapist.
The Umbrella hitmaker, who was brutally beaten in 2009 by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown, premiered the harrowing video on U.S. cable network BET on Tuesday (31May11).
In the promo the singer shoots a man at a railway station. A series of flashback images then show her grappling with him outside a nightclub as he tries to attack her.
Rihanna took to her Twitter.com blog after the premiere to address the "underlying message" of the video, warning young female fans to stay safe and beware of predatory men.
But the singer's actions in the promo have infuriated members of the Parents Television Council - they claim Rihanna is setting a bad example by allegedly showing that a "cold, calculated execution of murder" is an acceptable form of justice, according to TMZ.com.
And PTC campaigners insist she should be reprimanded for releasing the violent video.
A PTC representative adds, "If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass."
It's the second time in 10 days Rihanna has been criticised by PTC members - her risque performance with Britney Spears at the Billboard Music Awards also drew controversy, with group president Tim Winter branding their raunchy rendition of Rihanna hit S&M a "profanity-laced sex show".
